Skyline Step-a-thon 2021: Tuesday, May 25 – Wednesday, May 26
What is It?
Step-a-thon is the WAJAT replacement in 2021 and our one and only PTO fundraiser. This year, all Skyline students, both in-person and remote, will record as many steps as they can on their very own Skyhawks pedometer! The event will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 25th and last until 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 26th. Online references cite 12,000 steps as an achievable target for children’s step counts, so let’s get moving and get counting!
Friday, May 14th – Friday, May 28th
Students are invited to collect donations from friends, family and community members to sponsor their steps! Our theme is Skyline Strong! Students are encouraged to wear Skyline spirit gear or class colors for the 2 day stepping event on May 25th & 26th.
What does the PTO do with the money raised?
Every fall, the PTO votes on what to do with the money raised in the spring fundraiser. In the past, money has been used to build the track, build the garden and fund a garden curriculum, bring Missoula Children’s Theatre to the school, enrich teacher’s classrooms, assist with field trip expenses, assemblies, movie nights, Zoom Bingo night and more.
Sponsoring a student/collecting donations
Pledge envelopes were sent home from school for your use in collecting
physical donations. The last day to turn in money to your child’s teacher is
Friday, May 28th.
We are partnered with an online collection platform for online donations (parent registration code if needed is 609d2df3da1b0)
Just a few short steps will set up a webpage for your student(s). You can
share that link via email or on social platforms with your circle. Please
collect all cash/check donations right away, checks made payable to Skyline PTO.
Are donations tax deductible?
Skyline PTO INC. is incorporated as a WA non-profit corporation and is recognized as tax exempt under section 501(c) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations to the PTO are tax exempt to the extent permitted by federal law. Our tax ID # is 20-5987282.
Why, yes! You will find a list of what your student can earn in the information sent home with your student. All prizes this year are geared around getting children active and outdoors. There will be several grand prize packs for the top earners in the school as well.
Every child who has any amount donated or has family validation of signing up for the Box Top app, Fred Meyer Rewards or Amazon Smiles will be entered into a drawing for a prize pack! Click here for instructions if needed to sign-up for these great programs that help our school.
Classroom prizes will be presented for the highest number of steps (per child average) at each grade level! The teachers will help us determine what that looks like if their class wins! Otter Pops will be provided too, just like at previous WAJATs!
We will have packets available for pick up for remote learners starting the week of May 17th. The packets will have all the printed information, as well as pledge envelopes, Skyhawks pedometer and an unfrozen Otter Pop. Any questions, and your student’s final step count, can be sent to email@example.com. We will be working with remote teachers, hoping to coordinate some virtual class prizes, should a remote learning class win! The same time frame should be used to record steps, Tuesday, May 25th, 9:30 a.m. – Wednesday, May 26th, 3:30 p.m.
Happy Stepping! Go Skyhawks!
